About the People’s Plan:
The People's Plan came about through the O.U.R. Waterfront Coalition and the local residents that compromise the area around the waterfront. As a coalition we believe that urban redevelopment should actively include local residents in the city planning/ political process, especially those groups that are less politically mobilized.
Through a series of visioning processes with local community members, the plan asks for the EDC to include more public, green, and free recreational spaces that resident's would find most beneficial. Specifically, the People's Plan are advocating for the conversion of Piers 35, 36, and 42 into useable community public space.
